Foundation hosts maternal health outreach for 40 women in Abuja

The Aisha Agwai Foundation (AAF) is set to hold a maternal health outreach at the Gwarinpa General Hospital in Abuja, the organization announced Thursday.

Founder and convener, Ms. Aisha Agwai, highlighted in a press statement the foundation’s commitment to bolstering healthcare access for low-income women, addressing critical gaps in maternal support.

“This is our first outreach, and it’s driven by a need to help bridge healthcare gaps, particularly for women who struggle to afford essential maternal care,” Agwai stated. The event will provide 40 women with pregnancy care kits, known as Mama kits, along with newborn essentials.

According to the World Health Organization, Nigeria has continued to face a high maternal mortality rate over the past two decades, accounting for approximately 20% of maternal deaths worldwide.

The foundation aims to host regular outreach events to tackle these issues and support maternal health in underserved communities.
