IGP outlines regional policing action plan at AFRIPOL meeting

At the ongoing AFRIPOL Steering Committee Meeting in Algeria, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, presented strategic action plans for enhancing policing efforts in Nigeria and the West African region.

In a statement Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said in his presentation, the IGP outlined strategies to improve coordinated investigations and operations across borders, focusing on combatting evolving crime trends through collaborative efforts.

IGP Egbetokun emphasized the importance of advanced training for officers to manage complex security issues effectively and meet global standards in policing.

As part of his visit, he toured AFRIPOL headquarters, where he discussed best practices for handling violent protests in Africa with Douglas Kanja, the President of AFRIPOL and IGP of Kenya’s National Police Service. Ambassador Mohammed, Head of Legal at the African Union, was also in attendance.

The IGP called on regional leaders to fully implement the policies agreed upon during the meeting to strengthen crime-fighting capabilities and expertise across the continent.
