GOC 1 Division hosts Christmas luncheon for frontline troops in Kachia

In a display of gratitude and solidarity, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso, organized a Christmas luncheon for frontline troops in Kachia, Kaduna State.

In a statement, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 1 Division Nigerian Army Lieut Col. Musa Adams Yahaya said the event, held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Forward Operation Base/Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) Complex in Agunu, Kachia Local Government Area, brought together troops, senior officers, and notable figures from Southern Kaduna.

Major General Saraso read the Chief of Army Staff’s Christmas and New Year 2025 goodwill message to the troops, expressing deep appreciation for their sacrifices during the festive season. He praised their dedication to tackling Nigeria’s security challenges, emphasizing discipline, loyalty, and patriotism as key values in fulfilling their duties.

He urged the troops to intensify their efforts to combat banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, and other criminal activities in the region. He also honored fallen heroes, including the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TA Lagbaja, assuring their families of the Army’s unwavering support.

Acknowledging the support and strategic guidance of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, Major General Saraso commended the troops’ resilience and reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

The Commander of Sub Sector 5, Navy Captain Mohammed Adamu, highlighted the luncheon as a morale booster, fostering camaraderie among troops and enhancing collaboration against insecurity in Southern Kaduna. Similarly, Commander AK Gadzama of the Nigerian Navy Special Operations Force expressed gratitude to the GOC and guests for their participation, praising local stakeholders and security agencies for their cooperation.

The event featured various activities, including serving meals, comedy acts, dancing competitions, presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs. Dignitaries in attendance included the Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other stakeholders from Southern Kaduna.
