Tinubu mourns former U.S. President Jimmy Carter

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed heartfelt condolences to the United States government and its citizens on the passing of former President Jimmy Carter, who died at the age of 100.
According to a statement by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, remembering Carter as a “beacon of service to humanity,” President Tinubu highlighted his profound impact on global leadership, exemplified through his post-presidential dedication to peace, democracy, and the eradication of tropical diseases.

“President Carter showed us how to remain relevant and impactful after leaving the esteemed position of President of the United States,” Tinubu stated. “His work addressing diseases, mediating conflicts, and promoting democratic values displayed grace, dignity, and a deep respect for humanity.”

President Tinubu also acknowledged Carter’s special relationship with Nigeria, lauding The Carter Center’s contributions to eradicating Guinea worm disease and river blindness in the country. He recalled Carter’s historic 1978 visit to Nigeria, which bolstered U.S.-Africa relations and solidified a partnership centered on Nigeria.

Tinubu expressed hope that Carter’s legacy of decency, character, and humanitarianism will continue to inspire leaders globally.
