Gov Idris approves N525 million for Kebbi students’ tuition and registration fees

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has approved the release of N524.5 million for the payment of tuition and registration fees for Kebbi State students studying in India and Nigeria.

This announcement was made in a press statement signed by the Hon. Commissioner for Higher Education, Hon. Isah Abubakar Tunga, and made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.

According to the statement, N265.65 million has been allocated to cover tuition fees for 50 students studying in various universities in India, including those who have changed their courses from medical-related fields to humanities.

Additionally, Governor Idris has approved the payment of return flight tickets for 13 students who graduated from various universities in India, ensuring their return to Birnin Kebbi.

Furthermore, N258.89 million has been approved for the registration fees of 2,828 Kebbi State students studying at Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The Ministry for Higher Education, under the leadership of Hon. Isah Abubakar Tunga, expressed immense appreciation to Governor Idris for his significant efforts in promoting higher education and ensuring academic excellence in Kebbi State’s tertiary institutions.

Earlier in March, Governor Idris had also paid for all students studying medicine and related courses in India and Egypt.
