Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has condemned the recent suicide bombings in Gwoza, Borno State, which have resulted in significant loss of life and injuries. Extending condolences to the victims’ families and the people of Borno State, the IGP has promptly deployed additional personnel and resources to enhance security in the region.
According to Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in response to the attacks, the IGP has mobilized the NPF Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army EOD Unit, to conduct thorough clearance operations. This initiative aims to prevent further threats in Borno and neighboring states.
The IGP emphasized the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to work alongside the military, security agencies, and stakeholders to combat criminal and violent activities. He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police promptly.
Additionally, the IGP directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Intelligence Department to intensify intelligence gathering nationwide for more effective anti-crime operations.
