During Monday’s proceedings, Agunloye’s counsel, Adeola Adedikpe, SAN, highlighted the application for his client’s medical trip, supported by documents from University College Hospital, NISA Premier Hospital, the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), and an invitation from a foreign medical analyst urging urgent medical evaluation.
In opposition, prosecution counsel Abba Mohammed presented a counter-affidavit filed by EFCC investigator Hussain Babangida, urging the court to deny the application on the grounds that Agunloye poses a flight risk, having previously avoided presenting himself for trial until declared wanted.
“We rely on all resolutions in the counter-affidavit and adopt the same with the attached exhibit. We expect our noble lord to dismiss the defendant’s application based on the complainant’s counter-affidavit,” Mohammed stated.
Justice Onwuegbuzie adjourned the matter to July 17, 2024, for a ruling.
