The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Nkechi Eze, BDS, MPH, fspsp, as the pioneer Director of the newly established Directorate of Force Medical Services.
In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja CSP Benjamin Hundeyin said, the appointment follows the recent elevation of the Force Medical Section to a full-fledged Directorate — a landmark move aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery, accessibility, and welfare within the Nigeria Police Force.
AIG Eze, a distinguished clinician, dental surgeon, and administrator, brings over 27 years of meritorious service to her new role. Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and a native of Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, she holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, and a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Benin.
Her career has spanned key police formations across Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos, where she made remarkable contributions to improving police medical services and personnel welfare.
While congratulating AIG Eze, the IGP urged her to deploy her experience and leadership skills to build the Directorate into a model institution for police healthcare. He noted that the creation of the Directorate underscores the Force’s commitment to the well-being and productivity of its officers, describing it as a strategic investment in the operational efficiency of the Police.
