The Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has underscored his unwavering commitment to bolstering internal security stability and fostering a safe environment for the effective implementation of Federal Government policies. In furtherance of this mission, the Inspector-General of Police has given his imprimatur for the organization of the Fourth Edition of the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers.
In an official statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters Abuja, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the event has been themed ‘Fostering Economic Prosperity, Social Integration, and Political Development through Enhanced Internal Security Mechanism.’ This prestigious gathering is slated to occur from October 30th to November 1st, 2023, at the Landmark Event Centre in Owerri, Imo State.
The Conference and Retreat will bring together an assemblage of senior police officers, including Deputy Inspectors-General of Police, Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, and Commissioners of Police. In addition, the event will feature the participation of esteemed security management experts from across the globe, facilitating peer review and the exchange of innovative ideas on four critical topics within four syndicates:
Service Scheme for the Nigeria Police Force Professionalizing the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) Re-orientation Programme for Officers and Men of the Nigeria Police Force Police Pension Scheme: Review of Changes in Pension Scheme and Suggestion of Further Changes
This conference and retreat will also serve as a platform for senior officers of the Force to engage in substantive discussions and strategic planning with key officials from sister security agencies, national and international development partners, aimed at enhancing the internal security mechanisms within the nation.
The Inspector-General of Police anticipates the distinguished presence of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, who is expected to inaugurate the Conference and deliver the keynote address. The event will also host an array of distinguished guests, including State Governors, Service Chiefs, Heads of other Security Agencies, the President of INTERPOL, past Inspectors-General of Police, Traditional Rulers, Community Leaders, including the youth, the press, and Civil Liberties Organizations (CLOs).
