The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has presented insurance benefit cheques to the next of kin of 706 fallen officers while unveiling the Nigeria Police Insurance Claims Management Portal (npfinsuranceclaimsmgt.ng).
In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the event took place on February 18, 2025, at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, in the presence of senior police officers, industry stakeholders, and beneficiaries.

Addressing the gathering, the IGP underscored the initiative’s role in resolving long-standing insurance claims dating from 2010 to 2023, which had caused financial distress for affected families. He highlighted that the Force has successfully disbursed N17.8 billion in benefits to 6,465 beneficiaries over eight phases.
The latest disbursement of N2.99 billion in the ninth phase raises the total payout to N20.84 billion, benefiting 7,171 families.
The newly launched Nigeria Police Insurance Claims Management Portal aims to streamline the claims process, enhance transparency, and eliminate delays. Additionally, a specialized training program has been introduced for Insurance Desk Officers across 17 Zonal and 37 State Commands to improve efficiency in claims processing.
The IGP reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to supporting the families of fallen officers while enhancing the welfare of serving and retired personnel.
