Continuing his official tour of duty in Lagos State, the Acting Inspector General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, paid a respectful visit on Thursday, August 24th, 2023, to the esteemed Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Aremu Osuolale Akiolu, at his palace in Iga Idunganran. During this significant visit, the IGP expressed his sincere gratitude to the royal leader, who had previously served as an Assistant Inspector General (AIG) in the Police Force before his retirement.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP commended Oba Rilwan Aremu for his steadfast support and unwavering dedication in upholding the Police’s esteemed position within Nigeria’s security framework.
In response, the Oba of Lagos conveyed his deep admiration for the notable accomplishments of the Acting IGP thus far. He reassured the IGP of the complete cooperation from Lagos State’s obas, chiefs, and the entire community, pledging their joint efforts in achieving effective law enforcement and ensuring the safety of their neighborhoods.
In a similar vein, the IGP also paid a visit to the Oniru of the Iru kingdom, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, CON, who similarly holds a background as a retired police officer. Accompanying the IGP on these significant visits were the Deputy Inspector General in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), DIG Abiodun Alabi, fdc, as well as AIG Zone 2, AIG Ali Mohd Ari, along with several other senior officers from the Lagos State police command.
Reiterating his firm commitment to enhancing the standards of the police force, the IGP encouraged the host traditional rulers and the wider traditional institutions to embrace inclusivity in realizing the core principles of community policing. This approach, he emphasized, would contribute to the establishment of a more secure and harmonious society throughout Nigeria.
