In a bid to foster a Police Force characterized by professionalism, service orientation, adherence to the rule of law, and citizen-friendly practices, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has instituted Complaint Response Units (CRUs) in all Police state commands across Nigeria, in accordance with the provisions of the Nigeria Police Act, 2020. Subsequently, a comprehensive 2-day workshop was organized for the heads of these units.
In a statement Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the appointed heads of the CRUs from various states convened in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on February 21, 2024, for their induction and the commencement of the workshop. The event took place at the Peacekeeping Hall, situated on the 5th floor of the Force Headquarters, Abuja. Representing the IGP, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, was the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
During the induction ceremony, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi emphasized the importance of integrity and fairness in the discharge of duties. He urged the officers to exhibit firmness and diligence, underscoring the commitment of the IGP to safeguarding fundamental human rights and upholding the core values of the force.
In attendance at the induction ceremony and workshop were representatives from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and AIG Austine Iwah, a retired AIG and UN-certified resource person.
The IGP, along with other stakeholders, pledged continuous support for the CRU, ensuring that the unit receives ongoing training and workshop programs aimed at enhancing their capacity to fulfill their responsibilities effectively. This initiative aligns with the vision statement of the police leadership, aimed at enhancing service delivery and public trust.
The workshop was a crucial step in equipping the heads of CRUs with the necessary tools and knowledge to address public complaints efficiently and uphold the standards of professionalism within the Nigerian Police Force.
