IGP orders high-level probe into Andrew Ochekwo case

Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed the Monitoring Unit to conduct an extensive investigation into the suspected murder of Andrew Ochekwo. The case, which has sparked significant public interest, also involves the disappearance of two women, Celine and Afiba, following their visit to Andrew in Aba, Abia State.

In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said to ensure a thorough examination, the IGP has mandated a detailed inquiry into the actions of the initial investigative team in Abia State and the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (IGP-IRT). The Monitoring Unit has a two-week deadline to complete the investigation and submit a comprehensive report.

The IGP emphasized that the investigation will be conducted with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. He urged the public and all stakeholders to remain calm and allow the process to unfold without interference. Those with relevant information are encouraged to assist the investigation, with assurances that their contributions will be kept confidential.
