Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, underscored the imperative of collective action against criminal activities during his official visit to Bauchi State on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
According to Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the visit, which aimed to bolster peace and security in the region, saw the IGP engage in dialogues with key stakeholders, including Bauchi State Governor, His Excellency Senator Bala Mohammed, CON, reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to collaborative efforts with the government and citizens in maintaining law and order.

In line with enhancing security measures, the IGP assured the establishment of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) in Bauchi, among other states. This initiative seeks to fortify security frameworks and tackle emerging threats, thus consolidating the state’s security infrastructure and ensuring a safer environment for residents.
Governor Bala Mohammed commended the IGP’s unwavering dedication to law enforcement, noting the significance of the visit as the first of its kind in many years. Acknowledging Bauchi’s strategic geographic position, bordering seven states, the Governor welcomed the IGP’s commitment to intensifying border security measures.
During the visit, the Inspector General of Police and Governor Bala Mohammed inaugurated several facilities at the Police Mobile Force Base 10 barracks in Bauchi. These included an administrative block with seven offices and a conference hall, a standard quarter guard, an armory, a 50-meter U-shaped Road, and an industrial borehole. The project, donated by Tiamin Nigeria Limited, underscores the private sector’s involvement in bolstering security infrastructure as part of corporate social responsibility initiatives.
IGP Egbetokun emphasized the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property, promoting peace, and enhancing security nationwide. He stressed the importance of collaborative endeavors between law enforcement agencies, government bodies, and the public in achieving lasting peace and development. Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, the IGP pledged continued collaboration with the state government to foster peace and harmony not only in Bauchi but throughout the country.
