IGP visits Borno, orders reconstruction of damaged police facilities following devastating flood

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, paid a sympathy visit to Borno State on Monday, September 16, 2024, in response to the severe flooding that has devastated several communities.

Accompanied by top police officials, including Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIG) Bala Ciroma and DIG Ede Ayuba, as well as AIG Danladi Lalas, the IGP extended condolences to the people and government of Borno.

During the visit, the IGP met with Governor Babagana Zulum at the Government House, where the Governor of Bauchi, Bala Mohammed, and other dignitaries also gathered to express their solidarity. The IGP conveyed heartfelt sympathy on behalf of the entire police force, pledging to ensure the security of Borno’s residents amidst the ongoing crisis. He further announced plans to swiftly commence the reconstruction of police facilities damaged by the floods.

Governor Zulum expressed gratitude to the IGP for his leadership and commitment to police reforms, commending his efforts to guide the force in fulfilling its responsibilities during challenging times.

Addressing police officers in the state, the IGP urged them to maintain professionalism and dedication, particularly in supporting relief efforts and restoring order in the affected areas. He emphasized the importance of standing by the people of Borno in this period of recovery.
