Joint troops neutralise 10 terrorists in Zamfara

In a major offensive against armed insurgents, joint troops of Operation Fasan Yamma successfully neutralised 10 terrorists in coordinated attacks on notorious outlaw hideouts across Zamfara State today.

The operations, launched in the early hours of the morning, targeted terrorist camps in Mai Tashi and Dan Jigba in Gusau Local Government Area, and Munhaye in Tsafe Local Government Area. According to military sources, the swift and lethal strikes were meticulously planned based on actionable intelligence, ensuring maximum impact and minimal collateral damage.

Troops recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition from the camps, including assorted rifles, magazines, and rounds of ammunition. In addition, five motorcycles used by the terrorists for their operations were destroyed in situ, dealing a severe blow to their mobility and logistics.

The coordinated assault comes amid sustained efforts by the Nigerian military and security agencies to combat rising insecurity and armed banditry in the North-West region. Security analysts say that the successful operation demonstrates improved inter-agency collaboration and intelligence sharing among the security forces.

Local residents expressed relief at the successful operation, urging the government to sustain the tempo and ensure that peace is permanently restored in the area. One resident in Gusau noted, “We have suffered for too long under the yoke of these criminals. We thank the military for their efforts and hope they continue to keep us safe.”

Military officials reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining security and rooting out all criminal elements from the region. “These operations are part of a broader campaign to restore law and order and safeguard the lives and property of our citizens,” a senior military source said.

Further details on the ongoing operation and plans for securing the liberated areas were not immediately disclosed, as security agencies continue their efforts to stabilise the region.
