NIMC launches nationwide ward-level NIN enrollment initiative

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced the launch of National Identification Number (NIN) enrollment at the ward level across the country.

This initiative, which is part of NIMC’s efforts to achieve nationwide coverage by the end of 2025, builds on its progress to date, with over 120 million Nigerians already enrolled.

In a statement on Monday, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, NIMC spokesperson, said: “NIMC is set to commence ward-level enrollment nationwide, a significant component of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to strengthen the National Identity System.”

The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMC, Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, highlighted the Commission’s commitment to working with strategic partners to enroll and issue NINs to all Nigerians and legal residents in every ward, ensuring inclusivity and access for all.

As part of this commitment, NIMC, in collaboration with the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), has successfully enrolled and issued NINs to 59,786 inmates across correctional facilities nationwide.

Adegoke further noted: “This initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to ensure comprehensive national enrollment.”

He added that 74% of inmates have already been enrolled, with ongoing efforts to capture the remaining individuals. NIMC expressed appreciation to the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; the Comptroller-General of NCoS, Mr. Nwakuche Ndidi; and the NCoS management and staff for their support.
