The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man, Mubarak Bello of Kofar Yamma quarters, Kurfi Local Government Area, for illegal possession of a firearm and impersonation.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the suspect was apprehended on September 13, 2025, around 2:30 a.m. during a routine patrol by officers attached to the Department of Operations.
Bello, who was driving a Toyota Corolla with registration number Lagos GGE 473 BH, was intercepted after failing to provide a satisfactory account of himself and the vehicle. A search of the car led to the recovery of one locally fabricated rifle, four live cartridges, two expended shells, a fake police identity card, and an extra number plate registered in Kano.
Police said investigations are ongoing to uncover the circumstances surrounding the firearm, fake ID, and other exhibits.
