The Kebbi State Government has extended heartfelt condolences to the immediate families, Yauri Emirate Council, and Yauri Local Government Area following a devastating boat mishap that involved 30 traders. Regrettably, 23 individuals are feared dead in this unfortunate incident.
In an official statement released by Chief Press Secretary Ahmed Idris, Governor Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris conveyed his sympathies in a condolence message to the affected community. The statement, signed by Alhaji Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, was made available to Newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Monday.
Governor Idris urged the affected families to embrace the will of God with fortitude and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the departed souls Jannatul Firdaus. He said, “I want to urge you to see what happened as the will of Almighty Allah that nobody can question, therefore, accept it in good faith. We should also continue to pray to Allah to forgive their shortcomings and grant them Jannatul Firdaus.”
The tragic incident unfolded as a boat carrying 30 traders and their merchandise departed from Kasabo village on Monday en route to Yauri town for commercial activities. Unfortunately, only seven individuals have been rescued alive, leaving 23 still missing as efforts to recover their bodies continue.
Governor Idris also prayed for the swift recovery of those who sustained injuries during what he described as a distressing event, and he beseeched Almighty God to bring an end to the recurrence of such tragedies.
This devastating boat mishap has cast a pall of sorrow over the region, with the state government and the affected community grappling with the aftermath of the tragedy. The people of Kebbi State join in mourning the loss of their fellow citizens, hoping for strength and resilience during these trying times.
