Lagos reiterates commitment to free education

Mr. Abayomi Abolaji, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Education, reaffirmed the unwavering dedication of the present administration to providing accessible and high-quality education throughout the State. This commitment was emphasized during his visit to monitor the year 2023 Placement Test, which was conducted based on Continuous Assessment Scores (CAS) at designated Schools’ Centers.

Addressing a large gathering of Parents/Guardians and Stakeholders at EKO AKETE Grammar School on Lagos Island, Mr. Abolaji underscored the government’s determination to uphold its “Leave no Child Behind” initiative. This initiative aims to ensure that all Primary Six Pupils who have completed their primary education are placed into Government Public Secondary Schools for the Year 2023/2024 Academic Session.

Mr. Abolaji highlighted the significant improvements made by the Lagos State Government in the education sector. He mentioned that both students from Public and Approved Private Schools were participating in the examination. A total of 176,316 candidates were registered for the test, while the Ministry of Education estimated a demand for 250,000 placements to align with the state’s policy. To facilitate the process, 405 test centers were set up across the State.

The Permanent Secretary expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination. He praised the conducive environment provided for the candidates and the proper arrangements of their seating to prevent any form of examination malpractices. This dedication to maintaining integrity during the exam process reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring fair and transparent educational opportunities for all students in Lagos State.
