Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), operating under Sector 1 in Mora, successfully repelled a coordinated attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on their military base in Darak. The operation, carried out in the early hours of December 18, 2024, resulted in the elimination of 10 terrorists.
In a statement Chief Military Information Officer, HQ MNJTF, N’Djamena, Chad Lieut. Col. Olaniyi Osoba said the attack began at dawn with terrorists launching assaults from multiple directions. In a fierce exchange of gunfire, MNJTF troops neutralized six terrorists on-site and forced the rest to retreat with gunshot wounds. Five soldiers sustained injuries in the encounter and are currently receiving medical care.
In a follow-up operation, MNJTF forces ambushed the wounded terrorists regrouping in Mazogo, a village between Zamba and Djibirilli. Four more terrorists were eliminated, and troops recovered various food supplies belonging to the group.
This decisive action underscores MNJTF’s commitment to regional security and its resolve to dismantle terrorist networks in the Lake Chad Basin.
