The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has provided clarification on the diversion of its C-130 aircraft during a ferry mission to Portugal on 8 December 2025, confirming that the crew executed a precautionary landing in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, after detecting a technical concern shortly after takeoff from Lagos.
In a statement, Director of Public Relations and Information Nigerian Air Force Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the decision to land at the nearest available airfield was made in strict adherence to standard safety procedures and international aviation protocols. The aircraft’s crew members are reported safe and have received warm and professional assistance from Burkinabe authorities.
NAF further stated that arrangements are underway to resume the scheduled mission. The service also expressed appreciation to the host country for its support and reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to operational discipline, safety standards, and the protection of personnel while executing its constitutional duties.
