NAF enhances troops’ combat medical skills in Kaduna

In a strategic move to enhance battlefield medical readiness, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has conducted a specialised Emergency Life Responders Training for personnel of the 413 Force Protection Group (FPG), Kaduna. The training, held on 25 July 2025 at the Air Mobile First Aid Unit (AMFAU), was facilitated by the School of Medical Sciences and Aviation Medicine (NAFSMSAM).

The exercise is in line with the directive of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, to equip frontline personnel with essential life-saving skills for deployment in austere and high-risk operational environments.

Participants received both theoretical instruction and practical training in critical areas such as airway management and bleeding control. Simulated combat scenarios included the application of tourniquets, wound packing, and the use of nasopharyngeal airways, among other techniques aimed at enhancing response capability during life-threatening emergencies.

Commandant of 413 FPG, Air Commodore Rilwan Abdullahi, led his troops during the exercises, highlighting the role of medical preparedness in ensuring mission effectiveness and troop survivability.

The initiative underscores the NAF’s ongoing commitment to improving troop welfare and operational resilience through targeted capacity-building programmes.
