Group Captain B. Topman, the newly-appointed Commandant at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, expressed his desire for increased collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to address economic and financial crimes occurring at airports nationwide. He conveyed this during a visit to the Enugu Zonal Command of the EFCC on November 2, 2023.
Topman’s visit aimed to foster a more effective partnership between the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the EFCC at the airport. He highlighted the significance of the EFCC’s role in their operations, emphasizing his prior support for the Commission’s efforts, both in Kaduna, Kano, and Port Harcourt, in apprehending wanted individuals or suspects at the airport. He reiterated his team’s willingness to collaborate closely with the Enugu Zonal Command to streamline airport operations.
In response, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE 1 Aliyu Naibi, the Enugu Zonal Commander, expressed his satisfaction with the visit and assured that the two agencies would continue to work together for the betterment of the nation. He commended the NAF for its unwavering support to the Commission and believed that the ongoing interaction between them would enhance their effectiveness, contributing to the progress of Nigeria.
