The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has intensified its clampdown on expired, unregistered, and substandard food and cosmetic products in Kano markets.
Responding to multiple petitions from concerned citizens, the agency conducted a three-day enforcement operation across Singer Market and various supermarkets within the Kano metropolis. The operation, led by the Directors of Investigation & Enforcement and the North-West Zonal Office, resulted in the seizure of expired candies, beverages, and unregistered products—many of them foreign items without English labeling—worth over ₦350 million.
Products confiscated also included unregistered food and cosmetic items from well-known supermarket chains.
NAFDAC has launched further investigations into individuals and businesses linked to the distribution of these goods and is urging the public to report suspicious or unsafe products to the nearest NAFDAC office.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring that only safe, quality-regulated products are available in the Nigerian market.
