NAOWA reaches 1,500 soldiers’ wives, widows in Abuja outreach

As part of its continued support for military families, the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) has organized a humanitarian outreach benefiting over 1,500 members of the military community, including widows of fallen heroes and members of the Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association (NASWA) and the Military Officers’ Wives Association (MIOWA).

The outreach took place on Saturday, 28 June 2025, at the Guards Brigade Sports Complex, Aguiyi Ironsi Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja, and formed part of activities marking the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL).

Speaking on behalf of the NAOWA President, Mrs. Mernan Femi Oluyede, the Deputy NAOWA President, Mrs. Bilkisu Ibrahim, urged NASWA members to remain resilient and prayerful as their spouses serve in various operational zones across the country. She commended the women for their vital role in maintaining family stability and national cohesion.

Mrs. Ibrahim also stressed the importance of peace and unity within homes, describing them as pillars of national progress and community development.

The outreach featured the distribution of food items to beneficiaries and group photographs. It reaffirmed NAOWA’s commitment to improving the welfare of military families and preserving the legacies of service and sacrifice.

The initiative underscores NAOWA’s mission to uplift the barracks community and promote humanitarian service.
