NAPTIP launches five day workshop to strengthen anti-trafficking education in Schools

The Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Binta Adamu Bello, OON, inaugurated a five-day workshop today, October 7, 2024, in Abuja, to develop work tools for the implementation of the School Anti-Trafficking Education and Advocacy Project (STEAP).

Funded by the Kingdom of Netherlands and implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) in collaboration with NAPTIP, the STEAP project aims to enhance students’ knowledge of human trafficking and reduce their vulnerability across selected schools nationwide.

Bello expressed gratitude to the Netherlands and ICMPD for their support, emphasizing that human trafficking thrives on ignorance and vulnerability. “Our schools are the bedrock of society, and by focusing here, we aim to prevent trafficking before it begins,” she stated.

ICMPD’s Head of Region, Dr. Mojisola Sodeinde, represented by Mr. Lami Dafe, reaffirmed the centre’s commitment to supporting initiatives that combat human trafficking. The workshop includes participants from civil society organizations, school administrators, and NAPTIP officials.
