President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep concern over the recent violence in Rivers State following last Saturday’s local government elections.
According to Special Adviser, Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, the President called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara, political leaders, and their supporters to exercise restraint and respect the rule of law.
The President condemned reports of arson and explosions linked to the election tensions and urged political actors to de-escalate the situation. He directed the police to restore peace and order, emphasizing the importance of protecting public institutions from destruction.
Tinubu stressed that vandalism has no place in a democracy, noting that the judiciary remains the appropriate avenue for resolving political disputes.
