NAPTIP, Vigilante Group partner to tackle human trafficking at grassroots

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has established a technical committee to strengthen collaboration with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in combating human trafficking across local governments and wards nationwide.

The initiative was announced during a courtesy visit by a VGN delegation, led by Assistant Commander General (Intelligence), Ibrahim Auta, to NAPTIP’s Director-General, Binta Adamu Bello, OON, at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

Auta emphasized that the VGN, through its Anti-Human Trafficking Department, recognizes NAPTIP’s crucial role in prevention, prosecution, and rehabilitation of victims. He expressed confidence that the partnership would significantly enhance efforts toward achieving a human trafficking-free Nigeria.

In her response, Bello said the widespread prevalence of human trafficking in the country makes grassroots collaboration vital for effective prevention, early detection, and disruption of trafficking networks. She reaffirmed NAPTIP’s commitment to working with the VGN to expand vigilance and safeguard vulnerable communities.
