The National Assembly has announced a Joint Public Hearing on the National Digital Economy and E-Governance Bill 2025, scheduled to hold on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the Senate Conference Room 022, Senate New Building, National Assembly Complex, Abuja.
The hearing is being jointly organised by the House Committee on Digital and Information Technology and the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity as part of the 10th Assembly’s commitment to inclusive and stakeholder-driven lawmaking that supports Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.
According to the statement signed by the Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Rep. Akin Rotimi, the event will begin at 10:00 a.m. and is open to citizens, industry experts, and stakeholders across the technology, education, and governance sectors.
The proposed legislation seeks to establish a comprehensive framework for the nation’s digital economy, e-governance systems, and cybersecurity infrastructure. It aims to create an enabling environment for innovation, secure digital operations, and efficient public service delivery.
Chairman of the House Committee on Digital and Information Technology, Rep. Adedeji Stanley Olajide, described the public hearing as a vital opportunity for Nigerians to shape the future of the country’s digital policy.
“This is a crucial opportunity for citizens and stakeholders to contribute meaningfully to the development of a national digital framework that supports innovation and security,” Olajide stated.
Also speaking, Senator Shuaibu Afolabi Salisu, FNCS, Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, noted that the bill represents “a blueprint for our collective digital future.”
He explained that the legislation is designed to “create opportunities for our youth, secure our cyberspace, and make governance more efficient and transparent.”
“For this bill to be truly national, it must be shaped by the voices of the nation. That is why we are inviting stakeholders and the general public to share their insights, expertise, and concerns,” Senator Salisu added.
The National Assembly reaffirmed its dedication to enacting laws that position Nigeria as a competitive digital economy, enhance government accountability, and empower citizens through innovative and secure digital services.
