The Nigerian Navy has intercepted 500 litres of products suspected to be illegally sourced Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and substances suspected to be Cannabis sativa in Folu Community, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.
In a statement Director Naval Information Nigerian Navy, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho said the operation was carried out on August 24, 2026, by personnel of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB) Lekki as part of sustained efforts to tackle the illegal trade and storage of petroleum products and the proliferation of illicit drugs within its Area of Operations.
The suspects reportedly fled the scene before they could be apprehended, while the recovered exhibits were secured and transported to the base for further investigation and appropriate action.
The Navy said the operation underscored its commitment to disrupting criminal activities capable of undermining national economic interests, public safety and security within its Area of Operations.
