NCSB confirms new appointments, establishes ICT department

The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) confirmed the appointment of two Deputy Comptroller-Generals of Customs (DCGs) and five Assistant Comptroller-Generals of Customs (ACGs) during its 60th Regular Meeting on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

According to National Public Relations Officer NCS Chief Superintendent of Customs Abdullahi Maiwada, the meeting, chaired by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, took place at the new corporate headquarters of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Maitama, Abuja.

The newly confirmed DCGs are OA Alajogun and KI Adeola, while the ACGs include IG Umar, MM Tilley-Gyado, BA Makinde, OA Salefu, and T Bomodi. These appointments follow the statutory retirement of senior officers and comply with the Federal Character Policy as outlined in Section 14(4) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.

Additionally, the Board approved a resolution from its 59th Regular Meeting on May 14, 2024, to upgrade the ICT Unit to a full-fledged department, a strategic move aimed at supporting the NCS’s ongoing modernization efforts. DCG KI Adeola has been appointed as the substantive Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of the new ICT-Modernisation Department, where she will be assisted by an Assistant Comptroller-General and five Comptrollers to drive digital transformation and enhance operational efficiency.

Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, congratulated the newly appointed officers, urging them to intensify efforts in revenue generation, trade facilitation, and the suppression of smuggling to support Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
