The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has strengthened inter-agency collaboration with the Nigerian Navy Logistics College as part of efforts to intensify the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
Commander of the Kano Strategic Command, CN DY Lawal, paid a courtesy visit to the Commandant of the College, Commodore Ahmad Adamu Dawaki, at Dawakin Tofa on February 26, 2026.
During the meeting, Lawal briefed the Commandant on ongoing reforms spearheaded by the NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), aimed at tackling substance abuse through coordinated demand- and supply-reduction strategies. He highlighted plans to introduce a drug integrity test across government agencies and tertiary institutions nationwide as a preventive mechanism to discourage substance abuse.
The commander also outlined the agency’s alternative development initiative designed to suppress the supply of illicit drugs by addressing the socio-economic factors that drive production and trafficking.
In his response, Commodore Dawaki commended the NDLEA for its sustained efforts within Nigeria’s security architecture and acknowledged the agency’s longstanding collaboration with the military. He reaffirmed the College’s readiness to support the NDLEA’s mandate and disclosed plans to broaden the institution’s course offerings to accommodate personnel from sister security agencies as well as members of the public.
He described the partnership as critical to safeguarding the nation against the threat of drug abuse and related crimes.
The visit concluded with an exchange of mementos between both institutions, symbolising mutual respect and a shared commitment to sustained collaboration in advancing national security objectives.
