NEMA DG engages house committee on disaster preparedness

The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Zubaida Umar, participated in an interactive meeting with the House of Representatives’ Disaster and Emergency Preparedness Committee at the National Assembly today.

The meeting, presided over by the Committee Chairman, Hon. Joseph Bassey, served as a platform for discussing NEMA’s activities, challenges, and potential strategies for enhancing the Agency’s effectiveness.

During her remarks, DG Umar reaffirmed NEMA’s commitment to improving disaster management across the country. She stressed the importance of State and Local Governments mirroring the Federal Government’s dedication to disaster preparedness and management in their respective areas.

DG Umar also appealed for the Committee’s continued support to help NEMA achieve its goals in emergency preparedness and response.

In response, Chairman Bassey highlighted the need for increased funding and better equipment for NEMA, with Committee members expressing their commitment to supporting the Agency.
