NEMA mounts rapid response to devastating ring road fire in Kano

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Kano Territorial Office promptly reacted to a distress call received at approximately 9:45 am reporting a fire incident along the Na’ibawa Eastern Bypass in Kano.

The NEMA Emergency Response Team (ERT) swiftly mobilized and arrived at the scene, initiating immediate efforts to contain the situation. Regrettably, one individual lost their life in the tragic incident.

The fire, which engulfed the area, resulted in the destruction of four vehicles, comprising two trucks, one crane, and a sedan. Additionally, two residential houses and two uncompleted buildings were razed to the ground.

Notable stakeholders, including NEMA, Kano State Fire Service, Kano State Emergency Management Agency (KASEMA), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), were present at the scene to collaborate in the coordinated response effort.

 

The collaborative response from various agencies underscores the commitment to managing and mitigating the impact of such incidents on the community. Investigations into the cause of the fire and further assessments of the damages are underway as authorities work towards providing necessary support to the affected individuals and families.
