The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has launched a two-day capacity-building workshop for its headquarters staff, state coordinators, and civil society organisations (CSOs) to enhance the documentation and reporting of human rights violations in Nigeria.
The training, attended by directors, United Nations representatives, and other stakeholders, aims to align the Commission’s reporting standards with international best practices, consistent with its ‘A’ status rating.
Participants are being equipped with new strategies for gathering, preserving, and presenting evidence, as well as improving complaint management to strengthen accountability and human rights protection nationwide.
Dr. Benedict Agu, Head of NHRC’s Monitoring Department, led the discussions, with state coordinators participating virtually. The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Nigeria was represented by Chika Obi.
