NIDCOM applauds Sakinah medical outreach for upcoming medical mission in Abuja

The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has commended Sakinah Medical Outreach (SMO) for its upcoming medical mission, which aims to provide free healthcare services to underserved Nigerians.

In a statement issued by NIDCOM spokesperson Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Dabiri-Erewa lauded the initiative as a reflection of the organization’s dedication to humanitarian service and its commitment to the Islamic values of compassion, care, and love.

Scheduled to take place from February 16 to 21, 2025, at the National Hospital, Abuja, the mission will offer life-changing medical procedures, including urethroplasty, TURP/TURBT, PCNL/RIRS, kidney stone surgery, laparoscopic urology, diagnostic flexible cystoscopy, lipoma removal, circumcisions, and hernia repairs. The program is expected to benefit over 100 individuals.

Sakinah Medical Outreach has provided free medical care to more than 13,000 Nigerians over the past 16 years, both within the country and abroad. NIDCOM praised the organization’s efforts and encouraged other groups and individuals to support such humanitarian initiatives.

Chairman of Sakinah Medical Outreach, Dr. Yusuf Salman, revealed that a team of medical professionals from abroad would collaborate with their Nigerian counterparts to carry out the necessary procedures as part of their humanitarian commitment.

“Our mission is guided by the Islamic principles of compassion and care for all. We believe that every human life is precious and deserves access to quality healthcare,” Salman stated.

He further expressed gratitude to the organization’s partners, Medics Across Continents (MAC) and the National Hospital, Abuja, for their support in making the initiative a success.
