The Nigerian government has extended its condolences to the government and people of Türkiye following the devastating fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Kartalkaya Ski Resort, which claimed 66 lives and injured over 50 others.
In a statement signed by Kimiebi Ebienfa, the Acting Spokesperson for the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria expressed profound sympathy for the tragic incident.
The statement reads: “The Federal Republic of Nigeria wishes to extend its heartfelt condolences to the Government and People of the Republic of Türkiye over the tragic fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Kartalkaya Ski Resort.
“The fire, which occurred in Bolu Province, Northwestern Türkiye, on the morning of Tuesday, January 21, 2025, resulted in the loss of 66 lives and left over 50 others injured.
“The Government of Nigeria sympathizes with the families of the victims and the entire nation of Türkiye during this difficult time and wishes the injured a swift recovery.”
