The Nigeria Police Force, through its INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abuja, has successfully repatriated a high-profile fugitive, Mr. Dai Qisheng, to the People’s Republic of China in a landmark transnational operation.
In a statement on Sunday 24th August, Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the operation, conducted in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Beijing and the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, underscores the Force’s commitment to tackling organized crime across borders.
Qisheng, a notorious gang leader wanted in Guizhou Province for violent organized crimes, fled China in 2024 following a warrant issued by the Public Security Bureau of Zhijin County. He was tracked and arrested by INTERPOL operatives in Abuja on August 8, 2025, and repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, said the successful operation reaffirms Nigeria’s resolve that the country will not serve as a safe haven for fugitives. He noted that the arrest demonstrates the value of international cooperation in combating global crime networks.
“This sends a strong message to criminals worldwide: the Federal Republic of Nigeria will never be a hiding place for fugitives,” Egbetokun stated.
