In pursuit of sound administration and operational effectiveness, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, underscores the importance of these principles in the command philosophy of the Nigerian Army. Since assuming office, the COAS has remained committed to ensuring the combat readiness and well-being of Nigerian Army (NA) troops.
As part of this commitment, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has granted approval for the construction of a new, state-of-the-art headquarters building for the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, located at Obienu Barracks in Bauchi. The official inauguration ceremony to mark the commencement of this significant construction project took place on Friday, October 13, 2023, in accordance with the Chief of Army Staff’s directives.
Major General Mohammed Sani Ahmed, Commander of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, expressed his gratitude to the COAS for his unwavering support and forward-thinking approach in endorsing this vital project. He also pledged that the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps would continue to fulfill its pivotal role as the Combat Arm of Decision Making. He firmly believed that the new headquarters edifice would serve as a source of motivation for the corps’ officers and soldiers.
Architect Abubakar Dauda, the project engineer representing MS ZAHEERA multi-project LTD, reassured that the project would be completed within the stipulated six-month timeframe. He emphasized the project’s commitment to meticulous execution and the utilization of high-quality building materials in accordance with global standards. Architect Abubakar extended his appreciation to the Army Headquarters for their prompt allocation of the necessary funds.
The ceremony saw the presence of several distinguished figures, including Brigadier General AGL Haruna, Chief of Staff at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, Lieutenant Colonel LJ Asuquo, Deputy Chief of Staff Logistics, and representatives from MS ZAHEERA multi-project LTD.
