The Nigerian Army (NA) has boosted educational and water infrastructure in Argungu, Kebbi State, with the renovation of a block of three classrooms at Dankoji Nizamiyya Primary School and the provision of four boreholes across the community.
The intervention, part of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Special Intervention Project, underscores the Army’s commitment to community development beyond its traditional security role.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Emir of Argungu, His Royal Highness Alhaji Samaila Muhammad Mera, lauded the Army for its efforts in improving education and social welfare, describing the initiative as vital to sustainable peace and development. “Security is not confined to the battlefield; it encompasses education, welfare, and the overall progress of the communities we serve,” the Emir stated, commending the NA’s commitment to nation-building.
The project facilitator, Major General Ismaila Babangida Abubakar, a native of Argungu, expressed gratitude for the Army’s support, noting that the project stemmed from his personal desire to contribute to his community’s growth. He handed over the renovated facilities to community leaders, urging collective responsibility for their maintenance.
Major General Abubakar explained that the initiative aligns with the COAS’s command philosophy of transforming the Army into a well-motivated force capable of fulfilling its constitutional duties while supporting community welfare.
