In a significant stride towards bolstering the nation’s power infrastructure, the Sappers Engineering Nigeria Limited (SENL), a subsidiary of the Nigerian Army Engineers, has successfully completed the delivery of 5 No Tower 132 KV double circuit transmission lines.
In an official statement, Director Army Public Relations Major General Onyema Nwachukwu said this milestone project, awarded by the China National Electric Engineering Company (CNEEC), spans the vital Tegina-Zungeru corridor in Niger State.

He said the comprehensive scope of the project encompassed various critical tasks including the clearing of right-of-way, tower alignment, excavation, blinding/stub setting, reinforcement work, concrete work, backfilling, and tower erection. Notably, the project has achieved a commendable 100 percent completion rate and has been formally handed over to CNEEC, fulfilling all contractual obligations.

Foreseen as a transformative initiative for the country’s power sector, the project is poised to significantly enhance electricity supply and stimulate industrial development. Furthermore, its multifaceted benefits extend to crucial areas such as flood control, as well as fostering the growth of fisheries and agriculture within the region.
Nwachukwu added that the contract for the construction of the 5 No Tower double circuit transmission line was awarded to SENL in 2023, prompted by security challenges encountered in the Zungeru general area of Niger State.

He said this undertaking underscores the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to actively contributing to the socioeconomic advancement and progress of the nation, utilizing its specialized capabilities to support the country’s trajectory of growth.
