Nigerian Military neutralizes 50 terrorists, apprehends 122 suspects

In a commendable demonstration of efficiency and resilience, the Nigerian Armed Forces have achieved significant successes in their ongoing military operations across diverse theaters. The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, disclosed these accomplishments on Friday while addressing journalists on the Armed Forces’ ongoing operations as of November 17, 2023.

Troops engaged in Operations HADIN KAI, SAFE HAVEN, WHIRL STROKE, HADARIN DAJI, WHIRL PUNCH, DELTA SAFE, UDO KA, and AWATSE have made substantial strides in neutralizing threats, apprehending suspects, and rescuing hostages.

Specifically, under Operation HADIN KAI, 33 terrorists were neutralized, 13 individuals arrested, and 132 kidnapped hostages successfully rescued. The operation also resulted in the recovery of various weapons, including a Conqueror APC, a GPMG, an NSVT gun, a G3 rifle, AK47 rifles, locally made guns, ammunition, mobile phones, bicycles, and a sum of N851,300.00.

Operation SAFE HAVEN saw the neutralization of 20 terrorists, the arrest of 34 suspects, and the successful rescue of 10 kidnapped hostages. Recovered items included AK47 rifles, a fabricated rifle, locally made pistols, ammunition, magazines, a motorcycle, military water backpacks, mobile phones, and a sum of N21,790.00.

Troops involved in Operation WHIRL STROKE neutralized one terrorist, arrested nine individuals, and rescued eight kidnapped hostages. Recovered items included an AK47 rifle, a locally fabricated pistol, live cartridges, a magazine, mobile phones, medical supplies, and a sum of N36,200.00.

In Operation HADARIN DAJI, troops neutralized 20 terrorists, arrested 48 suspects, and rescued 56 kidnapped hostages. Recovered weapons comprised AK47 rifles, a fabricated AK47 rifle, a long dane gun, locally made hand grenades, ammunition, magazines, radios, motorcycles, mobile phones, a solar panel, and a radio receiver.

Operation WHIRL PUNCH resulted in the neutralization of four terrorists, the arrest of eight suspected terrorists, and the successful rescue of nine kidnapped hostages. Recovered items included AK47 rifles, a pump-action gun, locally made firearms, ammunition, a vehicle, a motorcycle, a mobile phone, a Motorola HHR, and a sum of N75,000,000.00.

Under Operation DELTA SAFE, troops recovered stolen crude oil, illegally refined AGO, and DPK. Additionally, 32 suspected oil thieves were apprehended, and various equipment and facilities associated with illegal activities were discovered and destroyed.

Operation UDO KA saw the neutralization of three criminals, the arrest of seven suspected IPOB/ESN criminals, and the rescue of five kidnapped hostages. Recovered items included an AK47 rifle, ammunition, and mobile phones.

Operation AWATSE resulted in the arrest of 22 suspected criminals and the recovery of 10,000 rounds of shotgun cartridges.

All recovered items, arrested suspects, and rescued hostages have been duly handed over to the relevant authorities for further action. Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, commended the troops for their dedication and urged continued efforts in maintaining peace and security in the region.
