The Nigerian Navy on Monday, August 5, 2024, celebrated the promotion of 19 Master Warrant Officers (MWOs) to the prestigious rank of Navy Warrant Officer (NWO) at a ceremony held at Ezeoba Hall, Naval Headquarters, Abuja.
The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Rear Admiral Joseph Daniel Akpan, who presided over the decorations.
The NWO rank is the highest rank attainable by ratings in the Nigerian Navy.
The newly promoted NWOs are:
MWOPTI Shishi PM, MWOREG Odili G., MWOPTI Ogunbanjo, MWORP1 Sa’adu IS, MWOSR Garba S., MWOSR Okwuolise P., MWORP1 Omotuyole OF, MWORP1 Ebhaleme K. and MWOUC1 Idakpo JA,
Others are MWOSR Ekezie AD, MWOQA Khadi M, MWOMEA Aniche SC, MWOMEA Nasiru S, MWOATM Sanni A, MWOMEA Anja SS, MWOWEA Gidado MK, MWOSA Obi-Okolo AA, MWOSA Aminu MK and MWOWTR Akinroye TAD

In his remarks, the CNS acknowledged that promotion is a blessing from God and emphasized the honor of ascending to the “Admiral of the lower deck.” He commended the newly promoted NWOs for their dedication, commitment, and consistent service to the nation. He reminded them that with higher rank comes greater responsibility and urged them to lead by example.
The CNS also expressed gratitude for the sacrifices made by the spouses of the newly promoted officers, acknowledging their support. The event was attended by Principal Staff Officers, Directors, senior officers of the Naval Headquarters, family members, and well-wishers of the honorees.
