Nigerian Navy uncovers illegal oil bunkering storage facility, seizes cannabis in multi-operation

The Nigerian Navy conducted a series of successful operations across the nation’s maritime domain, uncovering an illegal oil bunkering storage facility, rescuing four fishermen, and confiscating 56 bags of cannabis.

On Monday, July 22, 2024, the Quick Response Team of the Nigerian Navy Ship PATHFINDER, operating under Operation DELTA SANITY, discovered an illegal storage facility for crude oil and refined products in Egbema Okwuzi town, Rivers State. The team promptly cordoned off the area and arrested two suspects involved in the illegal activities.

Later that evening, around 9:40 pm, personnel from the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base BADAGRY rescued four Ghanaian fishermen from drowning approximately 10 nautical miles from Lagos Fairway Buoy.

The fishermen’s boat had capsized due to rough seas.

In a separate incident on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, the Quick Response Team of the Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT intercepted a wooden boat carrying 56 bags of cannabis sativa at MOBA Beach, Badagry. The team is actively pursuing the suspects responsible for the illicit cargo.

These operations underscore the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to combating illegal activities and ensuring maritime security.
