Nigerian Trekker’s 700km from Gombe to Abuja in tribute to General Musa’s leadership

In a remarkable display of admiration for the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, a 29-year-old driver from Gombe State, Mallam Suleiman Rabiu, has completed a 700km trek from Gombe to Abuja. Mr. Rabiu embarked on this journey on February 12, 2024, and arrived in the nation’s capital on February 28, 2024, enduring 16 days of travel despite challenging weather conditions.

Acting Director, Defence Information Brigadier General Tukur Gusau said Mr. Rabiu cited General Musa’s exceptional leadership qualities and style as the primary motivation behind his trek.

He expressed appreciation for the marked improvement in security across the nation since General Musa assumed office, attributing it to the Chief of Defence Staff’s people-centric approach to leadership.

Speaking on his journey, Mr. Rabiu emphasized his determination to commend General Musa for the exemplary leadership that has led to successes in various operational theaters throughout the country. He highlighted the enhanced security environment, noting that such a trek would have been nearly impossible due to insecurity in the North East prior to General Musa’s tenure.

Upon his arrival in Abuja, Mr. Rabiu was received by representatives of the Chief of Defence Staff, including Acting Director of Defence Information Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Assistant Director of Defence Headquarters Provost Major Nneka Olima, and Special Assistant to the CDS Alhaji Hashim Hussaini.

Brigadier General Gusau, speaking on behalf of General Musa, expressed gratitude to Mr. Rabiu for his solidarity with the military, particularly with the Chief of Defence Staff. He reassured Mr. Rabiu of the continued dedication and commitment of the Armed Forces to ensuring maximum security in the country. General Gusau emphasized that under General Musa’s leadership, the Armed Forces remain devoted to defending democratic principles and advancing the President’s agenda for national renewal.
