The Director General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, has assured Nigerians that the National Identification Number (NIN) registration process will improve as the Commission strengthens staff capacity and addresses existing challenges.
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday at a capacity-building workshop for staff from selected state offices, Coker-Odusote, represented by the Deputy Director of Training and Development, Olufunmilola Opesanwo, said the training was designed to boost efficiency, professionalism, and customer service delivery.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to building a workforce that is not only efficient but also deeply rooted in the values of professional customer service, ethical practices, and organizational excellence,” she stated.
She urged participants to maximize the opportunity by acquiring skills that would help them serve Nigerians with greater efficiency, empathy, and accountability.
A facilitator, Dr. Ibrahim Gaddafi, noted that the last training of this nature was held 12 years ago. He stressed that improved customer relations were key to increasing the number of Nigerians registering for NIN.
“The hallmark of customer service is satisfaction, and one way to achieve this is through operational efficiency. Some applicants may be aggressive, but staff have the responsibility to remain professional and attend to them effectively,” he said.
Gaddafi further tasked participants to return to their states and cascade the training to colleagues and third-party agents assisting in NIN registration.
