The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has condemned the killing of three of its personnel during a violent attack on the Bakin Ruwa Checkpoint under the Tuga Border Patrol Formation in Kebbi State.

Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, expressed deep sorrow over the incident, which occurred at about 2200hrs on Thursday, 27 November 2025. The attackers, described as unidentified armed men, also destroyed several operational assets and facilities during the raid.

A statement issued on Saturday by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI Akinsola Akinlabi, confirmed the coordinated nature of the assault and described the fallen officers as gallant personnel who died in active service.

“The Service extends its heartfelt condolences and unwavering support to the families, colleagues, and loved ones of the fallen personnel, honouring their selfless sacrifice and commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s borders,” the statement read.

In response, the Comptroller General has ordered an immediate tactical operation, including deployment of reinforcements to the affected formation, strengthened joint operations with other security agencies, improved intelligence gathering along the Tuga axis, and intensified patrols to prevent further attacks.

The NIS reaffirmed its determination to uphold its mandate of securing the nation’s borders and urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as efforts to stabilise the area continue.
