The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has addressed a video circulating on social media, suggesting a pipeline leakage in the Aboru area of Lagos State. According to Chief Corporate Communications Officer Garba Deen Muhammad, the company confirms that the video is three years old and should be disregarded entirely.
Upon discovering the video, NNPC’s pipeline team acted promptly and investigated the reported location. Their investigation revealed that no such incident occurred at that site. Further examination of the video disclosed that it originally captured an incident in July 2020, near the Atlas Cove-Mosimi on the System 2B pipeline. It’s important to note that the System 2B pipeline has not been operational in 2023 and currently contains only water.
NNPCL assures the public that there is no ongoing leakage or hazard in the Aboru axis, as depicted in the old video being circulated. They urge everyone to refrain from spreading misleading information and instead rely on accurate and up-to-date sources for news and updates.
