On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT officially handed over 72 bags of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). This significant consignment of illegal drugs was intercepted by the vigilant patrol team of NNS BEECROFT on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the Elegushi Beach area in Lagos State.

The interception occurred during a routine patrol operation aimed at curbing illegal activities along the coastal regions. The Nigerian Navy, committed to maintaining maritime security and upholding national laws, identified and apprehended the suspicious cargo after careful surveillance and investigation.

Captain Ahmed Musa, commanding officer of NNS BEECROFT, stated that the seizure underscores the Navy’s dedication to collaborating with national agencies to combat drug trafficking and other forms of illicit trade.
